The Information Technology Technician program is designed for students wishing to embark on a career in the Information Technology industry. The objective is to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to service computer systems in a standalone or networked environment and to support end-users on these systems. Students will study the theory of computer systems and operating systems and then develop practical skills through direct hands-on training. In addition, students will work with application software to develop a level of expertise with the most commonly used office programs and the skills to support users. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking and the people skills associated with providing end-user support in a professional manner, that are required by IT employers today.
A student must obtain an overall average of at least 70% in order to graduate and receive a diploma. A student must achieve a grade of 70% in all technical modules identified by this symbol @ on the following pages, but may achieve a grade of less than 70% and no module mark is below 50%. A student may be allowed to retake a module in which the mark received was 70% (50% for modules not bearing the symbol), or to raise the overall average to 70%. A student must complete the hours of the Student Success Strategies and Career & Employment Strategies modules for the program as indicated on this outline.

- Passing grade on entrance examination.
The Information Technology Technician program prepares students for entry into the IT marketplace. Graduates may successfully compete for positions as 1st or 2nd level technical Support, technical support specialists, and Help-Desk troubleshooters.
